![]() There’s a completely remade version of Sand Hill from Sonic Adventure and Boo’s House which is based on King Boom Boo boss battle with Knuckles from Sonic Adventure 2. There are a few tracks in the game based on the Sonic Adventure series. I personally enjoyed the single racing mode over the team based gameplay and thankfully the game has both options. You can improve your team and get better over time with the team boost, skim shots, and with the items you use in the game. If you are winning but your team mates fall behind then you will lose. The game takes its idea from 2003’s Sonic Heroes where you get to play as three characters at once. However, I was not too fond of the “team racing” mechanic the whole game is based around. The game’s graphics are very appealing and polished (especially on the Xbox One X version if you play it on a 4K TV). The gameplay on the Switch was fine and feels good. Opening from “ Team Sonic Racing” which was cut from the Switch version. I thought it was a mistake but when I researched it turned out the developers omitted the game’s intro from the Switch version due to the intro taking up too much space on the cart, and instead of getting carts with more storage memory the cheapest option was to take out the opening cutscene on Switch versions which was disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing the new opening cinematic with the new Crush 40 track in the background. I first bought the Switch version of the game. Introduction to the game “ Team Sonic Racing” featuring a short version of “Green Light Ride” by Crush 40. You can check out our interview with Johnny Gioeli which we conducted prior to the game’s release. The music overall was the best part about the whole game. Crush 40 also returned to perform the game’s theme song “Green Light Ride”. The soundtrack featured the return of veteran series music composer Jun Senoue who’s last Sonic game he composed was 2011’s Sonic Generations. The music in the game was promoted more than the game itself. Perhaps this is why Aaron Webber denied the rumors, since technically it’s not another installment in the All-Stars series.Īn odd explanation as to why SEGA characters were removed from this game was simply because of the optional adventure mode story. ![]() Unlike previous Sumo racing games that featured Sonic and SEGA characters, this game would only be set only in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. The game’s official title is Team Sonic Racing. Eventually to the disappointment of everyone, the game was not a Sonic R remake but in fact a third installment of a Sumo Digital Sonic racing game, a rumor that Aaron Webber had previously denied once on his Twitter page.
